description

The Friche Belle de Mai site and the railway tracks are at close proximity, creating a fascinating urban novelty that inspired us to work on this playground by looking into the place’s history and by summoning its narrative potential. Trains and train stations are indeed a universe filled with fancies and dedicated dynamics that captivate us from both a technical view point (machines and constructions) and a human perspective (expertise, careers).

This playground is built on a freight car’s chassis stationed on one of the three tracks still existing on the site. The place is transformed, perfected by this recreation area. You can either step on the car, drive it, play railroader… the possibilities are endless, thanks to this wonderful entity that stands for movement, for a way forward. This well-known place is forever changed by children who discover it and live their fantasy.
