Exhibition train

The “Best” of the anniversary exhibition of the SNCF at the Grand Palais, reworked in a 150 metre-long train for a three week French tour.
For this scenography, we reorganised the collection of works in five carriages, in a chronological journey from 1938 to 2008, using the corridor/compartment idea. The compartments house light boxes presenting photographs, posters and drawings while the corridors display a chronological freize with an accompanying soundtrack and different models of animated miniature trains. As a counterpoint we conceive of passages of experience which appropriate elements of the universe of the railway: an infinite rail track, a room of folded tickets, a warehouse of lost and found and a simulator of the record rail speed…
Flickering diodes, magnetized on the metal casing of the cars, make the stationary train glitter in the station to celebrate this anniversary in the 18 towns through which it travels.
