Comme un arbre

This sculpture will be built on the site of a former wood-cutting manufacture, which is now converted into offices. The site of the old chimney was preserved to enable a project which could evoke the existence of the former factory. Our proposal is to reconstitute one of the numerous trees which were sawn up here using the principle of cut-up planks. A crane makes up the structure which supports 1 metre long planks of wood, all seclected at the first cut and arranged in a fan-shape by an interlocking system. The planks are untreated and still have their bark.
In order to give the sculpture of function, the tree is connected to the restaurant by a footbridge allowing access to the interior, to contemplate the internal structure right up to its opening to the sky, or, to reach a balcony overlooking the street. At night, a system of glowing mushrooms turn the sculpture into a landmark, a lighthouse in the urban islet, an inhabited tree.
